River Etiquette

Everyone loves the River, but with record setting numbers of people enjoying this beautiful resource every year, it's more important than ever for everyone to recreate responsibly. Your actions make a difference to the health of the Rainbow and the wildlife that make the River their home. Please be mindful and show your love for the Rainbow by following these guidelines when you recreate on our amazing River:

  • Wildlife:  It is illegal to feed or harass wildlife. Animals lose their natural fear of humans and can become dangerous. Wildlife can carry rabies. Once an animal is determined to be a "nuisance", it will be euthanized. Remember: A FED ANIMAL IS A DEAD ANIMAL
  • Underwater Vegetation:  The lush vegetation makes the Rainbow River a special place. It keeps the rivers clarity exceptional, filters pollution and provides vital habitat for aquatic life. Remember: FINS, FEET AND PROPELLERS UP
  • Noise:  Please enjoy the songs of nature rather than loud music. This will enable you to observe wildlife and lets others enjoy the peace and quiet surrounding the river as well.
  • No Wake Zone:  The entire river is NO WAKE ZONE. Not abiding by this law may result in fines. It decreases water visibility as it erodes the river banks.
  • Climbing Trees:  Many trees have fallen and broken due to over-recreation. Please stay in your vessel when possible and do not trespass private or state park property.
  • Trash:  Please leave the Rainbow River better than you found it. Dispose of trash/fishing line properly.

The River Thanks You!
